#GivingTuesday 2017 – YMCA Youth Service Bureau

For #GivingTuesday 2017, YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne Youth Service Bureau was one of the four recipients of the Community Foundation’s surprise #GivingTuesday gifts.

We surprised them with a $2,500 check last year and when we asked them what that meant to them, they said this:

“We are grateful that the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne sees the importance of the work that the YMCA Youth Service Bureau does in our area and demonstrated it with this gift. Since 1982 the YMCA Youth Service Bureau has been focused on giving at-risk youth the tools and skills they need to be successful in life. These services, which are provided at no charge to area youth and their families, are made available due to the generosity of donors, grant funders and organizations like the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne.

Every donation to the YMCA Youth Service Bureau is meaningful, no matter what the amount is. A gift of $2,500 helped offset the costs of providing crisis and intervention services to 1,187 youth in Allen County who were referred to the Status Offender Court Alternative Program (SOCAP) in 2018. Financial support is crucial to the continuation of our work and adequate funding helps us focus exclusively on client needs and the quality of our services.

Every day we work to strengthen the foundation of community and we appreciate the similar cause of the Community Foundation which gives us a chance to make community we love a little better every day. Thank you Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne!” – Nicole Hansen, Director of Mission Advancement

For #GivingTuesday 2018 we are doing the #GivingTuesdayFW Challenge. The Community Foundation encouraged nonprofits to raise funds for their endowments held at the Community Foundation between October 19th and November 18th, 2018 at 11:59 pm. The top raising nonprofit in each of our giving areas (Health & Human Services, Youth & Education, Arts & Culture, Community Development) will receive a surprise check from the Community Foundation on #GivingTuesday November 27th, 2018.

If you want to see the four nonprofits receive their surprise gift on November 27th, then be sure to like us on Facebook!
