Establishing a scholarship fund is a common charitable goal for many individuals and organizations. It’s a wonderful way for donors to give back to the community in recognition of their appreciation for their education.
The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne is proud to manage 84 scholarship funds for students. In 2018, we awarded almost $571,000 in scholarships to 247 students.
The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne makes it easy for donors and organizations to establish scholarship funds by providing assistance to help set up and manage the fund. We can help you start a fund, develop selection criteria and distribute scholarship applications in the community.
Most scholarship funds at the Community Foundation are permanent endowments, with the annual earnings used to provide the scholarships.
The Community Foundation can also administer scholarship funds established through wills or trusts. Financial advisors working with donors interested in this type of bequest should make their clients aware of the Community Foundation scholarship program as an option for administration of scholarships for a wide range of educational purposes.
Take the steps to establish a scholarship fund to honor your parents, a former teacher, or someone who influenced your life. Or, make a gift to an existing scholarship fund, such as the Community Scholarship Fund. Whichever way you choose, you’ll be helping to provide opportunities for the students of tomorrow.
