Who You Are

The Community Foundation is offering an internship, up to 30 hours a week, under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer who is responsible for operations of administration and facility management, finance and investments, grantmaking and scholarships, human resources, and technology areas of the Community Foundation. The internship will primarily involve providing support to the operations areas of the Community Foundation, in addition to opportunities to shadow all departments in order to provide a well-rounded learning experience.

The Work

  • Work with Grants and Scholarships to streamline file retention and electronic storage process, assign database codes to grantee board members, and assist with scholarship payment processing.
  • Provide assistance to Administration and Facilities Management to provide organized workspace, updated branding on a variety of board and committee documents, as well as electronic storage process for historical files.
  • Support Finance and Investments with research on private foundations, financial analysis on nonprofits, and fund management coding.
  • Assist Technology with management of software licenses and other equipment.
  • Facilitate industry research on benefits packages for Human Resources.
  • Collaborate with the operations team on other projects to be determined.

What You Need to Do the Work

  • Currently in pursuit of associate’s, bachelor’s, or graduate degree at an Indiana college or university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
  • Preferred degree of study in business, organizational leadership, philanthropic studies, or related field.
  • Ability to use latest versions of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
  • Ability to work independently or in collaboration and take initiative on projects.
  • Strong attention to details, ability to meet deadlines and good follow-through on tasks.
  • Ability to communicate well with others and maintain a professional demeanor.

Time Requirements & Pay Level
This internship will pay $11.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly. Up to 30 hours per week (390 hours total) for summer 2022 semester with potential for an extension to fall semester. Work hours will be structured around school schedules and related deadlines. Most work is performed during standard business hours of 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. The internship can be structured with or without academic credit.
