On August 23rd, the second annual Shopping with The Trustee event was a resounding success, providing much-needed support to local students as they prepared for the school year. Organized in partnership with the Adams Township Trustee’s office, this event benefits underserved students by providing each of them with a $100 gift card to shop for school clothes. This year, 200 students were able to participate.
The event was made possible through generous funding from the Community Foundation, The Richard D. Waterfield Charitable Fund, and the Richard Dallas and Marni McKinney Waterfield Charitable Fund. These contributions allowed families to shop for essential clothing items, helping students start the school year with confidence.
Volunteers from organizations including Come As You Are Community Church, Girlz Rock, Power To Exhale, Fort Wayne Housing Authority, worked alongside the families, offering guidance and support at Walmart South where the event took place.
This event not only provides essential items for students but also fosters a sense of pride and excitement as they embark on a new school year. It was a true community effort, and these students and their families will feel its impact for months.
