October: A Month of Awareness and Action for the Women’s Fund

October is a busy and impactful month for the Women’s Fund! In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we kicked things off with our No Matter What Coaster Campaign. This year, we are thrilled to have 45 bars and restaurants participating, distributing 18,000 QR code coasters to raise awareness for sexual violence and the resources available to support survivors. This campaign is a vital part of our personal safety focus area, emphasizing our commitment to creating safer communities for everyone.

Additionally, we are hosting a free screening of the documentary I Am Evidence. This powerful film tells the stories of four survivors whose rape kits went untested for years, shedding light on the systemic issues surrounding the treatment of sexual assault in our country. It illustrates the significant positive effects that occur when perpetrators are held accountable and survivors are given opportunities for healing and justice—key components of personal safety.

Following the screening, join us for a panel discussion featuring local legislators, law enforcement, and specialists who will address the current state of Indiana’s backlog of untested rape kits. Together, we can engage in meaningful conversations and advocate for change, reinforcing our dedication to personal safety in our community.
