News: Community Foundation Awarded $579,000 in Grants in Second Quarter

The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne awarded community impact grants to 22 nonprofit agencies serving Allen County in the 2nd quarter of 2019. The funding infused $579,000 of general operating support into local nonprofits undertaking our community’s most critical work. Recipients included

ACRES Inc. ($20,000) – Attainment, Conservation, and Management of Nature Preserves

Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne ($30,000) – Capacity Building for Arts and Culture;

Audiences Unlimited Inc. ($12,500) – Support for Programming to Bring Music to Special Audiences;

Brightpoint ($32,000) – Covering Kids and Families of Brightpoint;

Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana Inc. ($50,000) – Hunger Relief Programs;

Embassy Theatre Foundation Inc. ($35,000) – Maintenance and Operation of the Historical Theatre;

The Carriage House ($40,000) – Assist the Seriously Mentally Ill Recover and Reintegrate;

Fort Wayne Museum of Art Inc. ($30,000) – Arts and Arts Education Programming in Allen County;

Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana Inc. ($20,000) – To Build Girls of Courage, Confidence, and Character;

Goodwill Industries of Northeast Indiana Inc. ($20,000) – Improve Worker Safety and Grow Mission Revenue;

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne Inc. ($20,000) – Homeownership Programs;

McMillen Health ($30,000) – Preventive Health Education;

Hoosiers Feeding The Hungry ($10,000) –Processing Donated Large Game/Livestock;

Jewish Federation of Fort Wayne ($5,000) – Violins of Hope;

Joshua’s Hand Inc. ($9,500) – Posterity Heights Scholar House;

Literacy Alliance Inc. ($30,000) – Adult Education Services and Programs;

Mustard Seed Furniture Bank of Fort Wayne Inc. ($30,000) – Furniture Bank and Beds4Kids Programs;

Neighborlink Fort Wayne Foundation Inc. ($10,000) – Home Maintenance and Report for Vulnerable Homeowners;

Northeast Indiana Public Radio Inc. ($20,000) – Music, Entertainment, and Public Discussion for Two Public Radio Stations;

Super Shot Inc. ($25,000) – Community Immunization Clinics and Education Program;

Turnstone Center for Children and Adults with Disabilities Inc. ($50,000) – Therapeutic, Educational, Wellness, and Recreational Programs;

YWCA Northeast Indiana Inc. ($50,000) – Domestic Violence, Addictions, and Racial Justice Services.

For nearly 100 years, the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne has been a public charitable foundation serving Allen County since 1922. The Community Foundation had assets of approximately $141.7 million at December 31, 2018 and awarded more than $6 million in charitable grants and scholarships in that year. The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne does three things: help people make their charitable giving more impactful, connect funding to nonprofits through effective grantmaking, and provide leadership to address community needs to improve quality of life.
