June 2, 2022 – Fort Wayne, IN – The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne celebrated their 100th Anniversary with the announcement of the recipients of the Because We Love Our Community Grants and a Proclamation from Mayor Tom Henry at a press conference on June 2, 2022.
The Community Foundation was founded on June 2, 1922 and has been serving Allen County since. As part of the 100th Anniversary, the Community Foundation launched the Because We Love Our Community Grants on March 1, 2022. The Because We Love Our Community Grant opportunity is a new one-time grantmaking program for 2022 focused on finding small projects and programs making an impact in our community.
The Community Foundation is granting a total of $101,500 to 22 local nonprofits and groups. The Community Foundation is excited to announce the recipients of the Because We Love Our Community Grants:

Stephanie Crandall, Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the City of Fort Wayne and CFGFW Board Member, presented the Community Foundation with a proclamation from Mayor Tom Henry declaring June 2, 2022, Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne Day.
During 2022 the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne is celebrating 100 years of serving Allen County as a public charitable foundation. The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne does three things: help people make their charitable giving more impactful, connect funding to nonprofits through effective grantmaking, and provide leadership to address community needs to improve quality of life. Every day we connect people and resources to build a more vibrant community. As of December 31, 2021, the Community Foundation held charitable assets of approximately $222 million and awarded more than $8.1 million in charitable grants and scholarships throughout the same year. Since its formation in 1922, the Community Foundation has awarded more than $175 million in charitable grants.
