The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne is excited to be celebrating the 10 year anniversary of The Community Foundation’s Steininger Center grand opening! The Steininger Center building was made possible by a generous donation from Don and Kathy Steininger and a gift of land from the Foellinger Foundation to house our new home.
When the plans were being developed for our new building, the Steininger’s had a vision for the Community Foundation to be a place where diverse community groups can engage in dialogue to help improve Fort Wayne and Allen County. And over the last decade, that vision has certainly become a reality.
Since September 2008, nearly 20,000 people have attended meetings here and approximately 100 different local non-profit organizations have hosted events in the lower level community rooms. That’s more than the entire population of Grabill, Monroeville, New Haven, and Woodburn combined! We love welcoming new visitors to our building and seeing Don and Kathy’s vision recognized.

Don and Kathy Steininger are a great example of creative philanthropists who used non-traditional resources to make a charitable donation. Sometimes, the best gift a nonprofit can receive are donated supplies such as buildings, land, or equipment, and the Community Foundation can be the perfect partner to help you navigate the best way to make a nontraditional gift.
Its generous donors like Don and Kathy Steininger who help make an impact in Allen County through their generosity and heartfelt giving. It’s hard to believe that we’ve already been in our new home for a decade! The Steininger Center is certainly one gift that keeps on giving.
