Launched on August 26, 2020, the centennial anniversary of women’s right to vote, the Women’s Fund of Greater Fort Wayne was founded to focus specifically on the needs of women and girls in Allen County, Indiana.
Vision: The Women’s Fund of Greater Fort Wayne is committed to understanding – and overcoming – the challenges facing women and girls in Allen County. Through research, education, and collaboration, the fund works hard to uncover and address the most important issues. The Women’s Fund is about a brighter future for women, and for our entire community.
Purpose: The Women’s Fund of Greater Fort Wayne acts as a catalyst to strengthen our community. It mobilizes resources and establishes research-informed priorities to close opportunity gaps for women and girls regardless of place, race, and identity.
Through research, education, and advocacy, the Women’s Fund has identified three areas that will make Allen County more equitable for women, their families, and our community. These areas are ever-evolving, responding to what is learned through their work. These three areas are:
- Economic Security: Addressing employment issues that impede women and girls from reaching their full economic potential.
- Personal Safety: Promoting programs, policies, and systems that ensure women and girls’ safety.
- Young Women and Girls: Listening to and amplifying the voices of young women and girls so they know they are supported and celebrated.
As the only Women’s Fund in the region, the Community Foundation is proud to lead the way in helping to establish and seed this important work. The Community Foundation also hosts a full-time staff person to lead this groundbreaking initiative to support women and girls.
Without your support, vital initiatives like this would not exist to make impact on the lives of women and girls in the community.
