“Better Together” Endowment Campaign to Raise $2 Million by 2019
Nearly 100 years ago, forward-thinking community visionaries founded what is now the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne to encourage philanthropy and create opportunities to improve the quality of life in Allen County. Almost a century later, as we celebrate the retirement of our long-tenured Executive Director, it is a natural time to reflect upon our current work and accomplishments, as well as look to our vision for the future.
The Community Foundation exists to grow a philanthropic culture of good in our community and help make a collective difference. However, in order to grow and build upon our role as community leader and catalyst for change, our first step must be increasing our own institutional capacity by growing our operating fund. Together, we can elevate our impact to a higher level.
To strengthen the Foundation for the future and ensure the necessary resources are in place to turn our vision into reality, we are seeking to raise $2 million for our operational endowment fund. When we successfully reach our goal, that $2 million will leverage, we believe, $10 million in growth in the next four years and beyond.
Supporters of the Community Foundation are well aware of our work with local partners to tackle our community’s greatest needs; from community development initiatives like Riverfront Development, to our innovative work addressing children’s health and education. But community needs are ever-changing, and we have identified a need to address new and emerging issues in our community: the opioid crisis, crime, transportation challenges, talent attraction and retention, and more.
We can’t promise to solve all of these challenges, but we are committed to working more proactively, thinking bigger, dreaming bolder, and addressing the most critical problems facing our community in order to create transformative change.
